Facility Fire Safety Course
This course has been developed for individuals who wish to work or who are appointed in a Facility Fire Safety role. The identified units of competency are industry standard for individuals who are members of an ECO who are chief wardens, deputy chief wardens and communications officers, required to make decisions about the safety of occupants during a facility emergency, give instructions on the priority order for responding to an emergency incident and conclude the facility emergency incident.
This course will equip individuals with the skills and knowledge required to have first attack firefighting skills, including preparing for emergency situations, identifying and assessing an emergency, safely confining emergencies, using initial response equipment and reporting on the facility’s emergency response. The course has been developed to cover a broad range of emergencies and facilities as considered in Australian Standard 3745 and Australian Standard 4083.

Course Delivery Options
This course will be delivered in the workplace or at an Intrinsic Safety Training or Third party facility.
Important information regarding course durations:
Course durations are reflective of group sizes between 4 and 15 students.
If there are less students in a group course duration may be reduced by a maximum of 10%.
Therefore, if a class size exceeds 15 students it may be necessary to increase course duration.
Payment Terms
Individual bookings require payment upfront or at time of booking.
Group booking payment terms are based on agreement between the client and Intrinsic Safety Training.

Roles and responsibilities of Chief Warden
Preparing for workplace emergencies
Apply command, control and coordination aspects of workplace emergency procedures
Control the response to emergency reports, signals and warnings
Liaison requirements with emergency services
Peoples typical behaviour in an emergency
Emergency response risk assessment, response, and coordination
Implementing Emergency plans and procedures
Physical Requirements
Students will have to carry out various physical practical exercises. Therefore students should be capable of conducting the following activities:
- Demonstrate effective leadership of an Emergency Control Organisation during an emergency
- Demonstrate effective use of equipment and resources available to manage an emergency
- Demonstrate effective decision making to ensure peoples safety during an emergency
- Demonstrate effective understanding of emergency procedures and plans during an emergency
Assessment Components
Both practical (tasks and scenarios) and written theory assessments will be conducted during face to face training sessions.
Student Information
Students undertaking this course will have to demonstrate the following to be eligible for entry:
Language, Literacy and Numeracy
Sufficient English language, literacy, numeracy and visual interpretation skills to successfully complete this course
Personal Safety
Personal safety equipment must be provided by/for the student and worn during training
Venue Information/Catering
Students attending courses at our venues must provide:
Lunch (cafes operate within or close to all of our training venues)
Appropriate clothing (preferably long pants and closed footwear)
