Online (with face to face assessment): 20 minutes face to face
Face to Face: 7.5 hours (minimum) full face to face
Blended Delivery: 5.5 hours (minimum) with 2 hours (self-paced learning)

Individual bookings require payment upfront or at time of booking.

Group booking payment terms are based on agreement between the client and Intrinsic Safety Training.

Course Duration:
  • Face to Face: 7.5 hours (minimum) full face to face course
  • Blended Delivery: 5.5 hours (minimum) face to face course with the addition of 2 hours self-paced learning to be completed prior to attending the face to face course
  • Online Training with Face to Face Assessment: 20 minutes (minimum) face to face assessment with the addition of 6 hours of self-paced learning to be completed prior to attending the face to face course.
  • Refresher Training: 5.5 hours (minimum) face to face course – conditions apply for this option, for example, you will need to provide previous current certificates
Pre-Course Study Options

Pre-course study for the course is found in the student portal.

Students must have access to a computer, phone, tablet etc. with access to the internet to complete the pre-course study online.

Important information regarding course durations:

Course durations are reflective of group sizes between 4 and 15 students. 

If there are less students in a group course duration may be reduced by a maximum of 10%. 

Therefore, if a class size exceeds 15 students it may  be necessary to increase course duration.

What are you issued upon completion?

Students who successfully complete this nationally recognised training will be awarded the following statement of attainment:

  • HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • HLTAID002 Provide basic emergency life support
  • HLTAID003 Provide first aid
Who issues the certificate?

Training and assessment is delivered on behalf of Allens Training Pty Ltd (RTO 90909), therefore they will issue the statement of attainment for this course.

How often should the training be done?

It is recommended this training be renewed every 3 years in line with industry standards.

The key areas covered by this course include:

  • Follow DRSABCD in line with ARC guidelines

  • ARC guidelines relevant to provision of CPR and first aid

  • Infection control principles

  • Duty of care requirements

  • Obtaining consent

  • Appropriate use of AED

  • Principles and procedures for first aid management in a range of scenarios

  • Basic anatomy and physiology

  • Burns

  • Anaphylaxis

  • Asthma

  • Basic wound care

  • Fractures

  • Choking and airway obstruction

  • Shock

  • Operating first aid equipment

Physical Requirements

Students will have to carry out various physical practical exercises. Therefore students should be capable of conducting the following activities:

  • Performing CPR on an adult uninterrupted for 2 minutes
  • Performing CPR on an infant uninterrupted for 2 minutes
  • Assess and manage a casualty experiencing a severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis)
  • Assess and manage a casualty experiencing an asthma attack
  • Assess and manage a casualty choking with an airway obstruction
  • Assess and manage an unconscious and breathing casualty
  • Assess and manage a bleeding casualty
  • Assess and manage a casualty experiencing shock
  • Assess and manage a casualty who has been bitten by a snake and/or spider
  • Assess and manage a casualty who has experienced sprains and fractures

It is a training package requirement of this course that you are physically capable of performing uninterrupted CPR for at least 2 minutes on a CPR manikin placed on the floor.

Assessment Components

Both practical (tasks and scenarios) and written theory assessments will be conducted during face to face training sessions.

Students undertaking this course will have to demonstrate the following to be eligible for entry:

Language, Literacy and Numeracy
  • Sufficient English language, literacy, numeracy and visual interpretation skills to successfully complete this course

Personal Safety
  • Personal safety equipment must be provided by/for the student and worn during training

Venue Information/Catering

Students attending courses at our venues must provide:

  • Lunch (cafes operate within or close to all of our training venues)

  • Appropriate clothing (preferably long pants and closed footwear)

The Australian Skills and Qualification Authority (ASQA) requires that students be aware of their rights and responsibilities once they have selected their training provider. By enrolling into any of our courses you are deemed to have accepted the terms and conditions outlined in our Student Agreement.

Identification Requirements

Students will be required to show proof of identification at the commencement of the course.
