Price is based on Sydney metro based delivery.

Group booking payment terms are based on agreement between the client and Intrinsic Safety Training.

Initial Course:

25 hours (3 days) face to face training and assessment.

Refresher Course:

25 hours (3 days) face to face training and assessment.

Important information regarding course durations:

Course durations are reflective of group sizes between 4 and 15 students. 

If there are less students in a group course duration may be reduced by a maximum of 10%. 

Therefore, if a class size exceeds 15 students it may  be necessary to increase course duration.

What are you issued upon completion?

Students who successfully complete this nationally recognised training will be awarded the following statement of attainment:

  • PUASAR025A Undertake confined space rescue
  • PUASAR022A Participate in a rescue operation
  • HLTAID002 Provide basic emergency life support
Who issues the certificate?

Training and assessment is delivered on behalf of Allens Training Pty Ltd (RTO 90909), therefore they will issue the statement of attainment for this course.

How often should the training be done?

The industry recommendation is that workers conduct this course at least every 3 years.

The course includes the following topics:

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements applicable to confined space rescue

  • Lock out, tag out and isolation procedures

  • Identifying occupational hazards and control measures

  • Procedures for atmospheric monitoring

  • Operation of atmospheric monitoring equipment

  • Undertaking purging and ventilation operations

  • Selection, use and maintenance of respiratory devices

  • Use of ropes and knots for accessing confined spaces

  • Capabilities and limitations of rescue equipment

  • Casualty handling techniques

  • Casualty care and management considerations

  • Principles and procedures for first aid management of casualties

  • Manual handling techniques

  • Occupational hygiene

  • Procedures for reporting injuries and accidents

  • Safety precautions

Physical Requirements

Students will have to carry out various physical practical exercises. Therefore students should be capable of conducting the following activities:

  • Wear appropriate personal protective and rescue equipment
  • Escort stretchers in raising and lowering operations
  • Establish, maintain and use ascent and descent systems
  • Operate lowering and hauling systems
  • Wear and operate self-contained breathing apparatus
Assessment Components

Both practical (tasks and scenarios) and written theory assessments will be conducted during face to face training sessions.

Students undertaking this course will have to demonstrate the following to be eligible for entry:

Language, Literacy and Numeracy
  • Sufficient English language, literacy, numeracy and visual interpretation skills to successfully complete this course

Personal Safety
  • Personal safety equipment must be provided by/for the student and worn during training

Venue Information/Catering

Students attending courses at our venues must provide:

  • Lunch (cafes operate within or close to all of our training venues)

  • Appropriate clothing (preferably long pants and closed footwear)

The Australian Skills and Qualification Authority (ASQA) requires that students be aware of their rights and responsibilities once they have selected their training provider. By enrolling into any of our courses you are deemed to have accepted the terms and conditions outlined in our Student Agreement.

Identification Requirements

Students will be required to show proof of identification at the commencement of the course.
