Group booking payment terms are based on agreement between the client and Intrinsic Safety Training.

Course Duration:
  • Face to Face: 8 hours (minimum) full face to face course
  • Blended Delivery: 6 hours (minimum) with the addition of 2 hour self-paced learning
  • Online Delivery with Face to Face Practical Assessment: Self paced online learning with a scheduled 1-hour face to face practical assessment
  • Refresher Training: 6 hours (minimum) face to face course – conditions apply for this option, for example, you will need to provide previous current certificates
Pre-Course Study Options

If there is pre-course study for the course, it is found in the student portal.

Students must have access to a computer, phone, tablet etc. with access to the internet to complete the pre-course study online.

Important information regarding course durations:

Course durations are reflective of group sizes between 4 and 15 students. 

If there are less students in a group course duration may be reduced by a maximum of 10%. 

Therefore, if a class size exceeds 15 students it may  be necessary to increase course duration.

What are you issued upon completion?

Students who successfully complete this nationally recognised training will be awarded the following statement of attainment:

  • HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • HLTAID002 Provide basic emergency life support
  • HLTAID003 Provide first aid
  • HLTAID006 Provide advanced first aid
Who issues the certificate?

Training and assessment is delivered on behalf of Allens Training Pty Ltd (RTO 90909), therefore they will issue the statement of attainment for this course.

How often should the training be done?

The industry recommendation is that workers conduct this course at least every 3 years.

The key areas covered by this course include:

  • Respond to an emergency situation
  • Identify, assess and manage immediate hazards to health and safety
  • Assess the casualty and recognise need for first aid
  • Perform CPR in accordance with guidelines
  • Provide first aid in accordance with established first aid principles
  • Obtain consent from casualty
  • Identify available resources required
  • Monitor the condition of casualties
  • Coordinate evacuation of casualties
  • Accurately convey incident details to emergency response services
Physical Requirements

Students will have to carry out various physical practical exercises. Therefore students should be capable of conducting the following activities:

  • Perform single rescuer CPR on an adult casualty, uninterrupted for 2 minutes
  • Perform single rescuer CPR on an infant casualty, uninterrupted for 2 minutes
  • Assess and manage a casualty choking with an airway obstruction
  • Assess and manage a casualty with a head injury
  • Assess and manage an unconscious breathing casualty
  • Assess and manage a casualty experiencing bleeding and shock
  • Assess and manage a casualty with a snake and spider bite
  • Assess and manage a casualty with sprains and fractures
  • Assess and manage a casualty suffering seizures and epilepsy (including febrile convulsions)
  • Assess and manage a casualty experiencing anaphylaxis
  • Assess and manage a casualty experiencing asthma
  • Basic triage for multiple casualties and accidents in the workplace

It is a training package requirement of this course that you are physically capable of performing uninterrupted CPR for at least 2 minutes on a CPR manikin placed on the floor.

Assessment Components

Both practical (tasks and scenarios) and written theory assessments will be conducted during face to face training sessions.

Students undertaking this course will have to demonstrate the following to be eligible for entry:

Language, Literacy and Numeracy
  • Sufficient English language, literacy, numeracy and visual interpretation skills to successfully complete this course

Personal Safety
  • Personal safety equipment must be provided by/for the student and worn during training

Venue Information/Catering

Students attending courses at our venues must provide:

  • Lunch (cafes operate within or close to all of our training venues)

  • Appropriate clothing (preferably long pants and closed footwear)

Student Rights and Responsibilities

The Australian Skills and Qualification Authority (ASQA) requires that students be aware of their rights and responsibilities once they have selected their training provider. By enrolling into any of our courses you are deemed to have accepted the terms and conditions outlined in our Student Agreement.

Identification Requirements

Students will be required to show proof of identification at the commencement of the course.
